Have you ever been lost?

Sometimes we lose ourselves. Maybe it’s part of being human – a fundamental ritual that we undergo. A moment we have to experience. A moment that can make or break us.

There are some who lose themselves so completely, there’s no return – no going back. Their choices and life experiences have left them to think that way – to believe that’s the only way. Those are the ones who are truly lost and don’t see an alternative route. They don’t know how change. They don’t know how to find their way out.

And on the other hand, there are some of us who bask in the glory of being lost, and finding themselves – their true selves. The person they’ve always been on the inside. You’ll probably find that these are the people who inspire you. People who are simply, inspiring. They’re the fighters. Dreamers. Believers. Doers. Those are the ones you want to learn from. The ones you want to emulate.

I haven’t been in the deepest despair of laying everything on the line and either winning or losing. But I think like many, I’ve felt lost. Lonely. There was a time where I didn’t really know who I was, or who I wanted to be. I didn’t know which direction to take, or what to do with myself. I didn’t know where to look to find myself.

I don’t remember allowing myself to fall into that haze-state. But I remember sitting on my bedroom floor asking myself what I was doing, what was I supposed to be doing, what did I want from my life. When I looked around and realised where I was and how I felt, I knew I didn’t want to be there any more– in that negative mindset. I knew I wanted more.

I wouldn’t say I was lost anymore. But I don’t feel fully found either. As humans we’re forever changing, learning, growing. And I find that exciting. I think in being lost, self-doubt can take a hold, but I try to remind myself; every day is a chance that I can blossom.

We all get lost. Sometimes, when we’re in the middle of chaos, we find ourselves. When we’re trapped in our lost-haze, it’s the choices we make and the chances we take that either make or break us. It’s your decision to find your escape. You’re the only one who can set yourself free. It’s your choice to find your way out – it’s up to you to fight for yourself. It’s up to you to find yourself.
